Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) was designed to help people manage strong emotions, thinking patterns, and behaviors that cause misery and distress. It works through both individual therapy and group skills training sessions. Dialectical Behavior Therapy combines both cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness approaches to help people understand and change patterns of living that cause suffering. An evidence-based treatment supported by years of published research, DBT has been shown to be as or more effective than other therapies for the problems mentioned below.

The South Bay DBT Associates is a team of independent practitioners who are not associated as a business entity in any way. Each team member is a licensed, sole practitioner or is a marriage and family therapist intern or trainee under supervision by licensed MFTs. The purpose of the affiliation is limited to consultation, clinical feedback, resource sharing, and ongoing training.
